What is the difference between a WFH agent and a virtual assistant?
A work from home agent is primarily a phone-based remote worker — handling outbound sales calls, inbound customer service lines, appointment setting, or live transfers. A virtual assistant focuses on non-voice or mixed tasks — admin, scheduling, CRM management, social media, research, and back-office support. Both are available on the marketplace. The comparison table above can help you decide which fits your needs.
Are agents paid hourly or on commission?
Both options are available. Commission-based models (pay per sale, transfer, appointment, or lead) are common for outbound sales agents and telemarketing roles. Hourly models are more typical for virtual assistants, customer service agents, and back-office roles. The pay structure is agreed between you and the agent before the engagement begins, with Data Monster as the intermediary.
Can I hire a US-based onshore agent or VA?
Yes. Onshore US-based agents and VAs are available for campaigns requiring native English, TCPA compliance, HIPAA compliance, or other federal regulatory requirements. For qualifying federally regulated onshore programs, paid training and guaranteed weekly pay options are available. Onshore agents cost more than nearshore or offshore options.
How is my payment protected?
All payments are held in escrow by Data Monster, Inc. in our own merchant account. Funds are never released to an agent or VA until you confirm that work was delivered as agreed. If a dispute arises, it is handled through the CCFH Marketplace Resolution Program — Data Monster reviews evidence from both parties and issues a binding decision.
Can I try a VA or agent before committing long term?
Yes. You can start with a short-term or trial engagement and scale from there. Use the Personal Shopper service to have a Data Monster representative arrange interviews with up to 5 pre-matched agents or VAs, chaperone the meetings, and help you select the right fit before any payment is made.
Do agents need to sign an NDA?
All agents and vendors on the platform have agreed to Data Monster’s Terms of Service, which includes confidentiality provisions. If you require a specific NDA for your engagement, our Liaison Officers can assist with arranging that through our Broker Partner Program.
